A little preparationA better plan.
A smoother clear-out.
Before hiring a skip, confirm what goes in, where it stands and when it is collected. These questions matter as much as the size.
Ask about a skip ↗Compare prices ↗Agree on the contentsWhat can go in a skip?
Load acceptance depends on the materials and the arrangement you book. Describe rubble, plant material and clear-out items separately. Get confirmation before mixing them.
Identify paint, chemicals, batteries, electrical items, liquids and suspect asbestos separately. Do not add them to an ordinary skip without specific handling advice. This is not a complete hazardous-material classification.
Orange does not publish a universal approved-material list or weight limit. Ask for the requirements for your load; a larger nominal volume is not permission to load more heavy material.

Make a placement planDriveway, complex or public space?
Give the intended position and ask about the actual skip dimensions and delivery vehicle access. If a landlord, body corporate or property manager controls the space, confirm permission with them before booking.
For a proposed position on a public road or pavement, check the applicable requirements with the City before arranging delivery. No permit fee, approval timeline or exemption is quoted here; do not assume the skip price includes any public-space permission.
Describe slopes, gates, overhead obstructions and parked vehicles. Keep the collection route available as agreed.
Primary-source local guidanceA local detail worth checking before you drive.
Municipal drop-offs are a different option from delivered skip hire. Their conditions are facility-specific, and their vehicle rules are not Orange’s loading limits.
01 / Who can use it?Vehicle capacity is a condition
The City recycling guide allows limited commercial recyclables, garden waste and clean rubble subject to a vehicle carrying-capacity condition of 1.5 tonnes or less and confirmation with the site official.
City recycling guide ↗02 / Which waste?Read the actual material list
Sea Point’s explicit refusal list includes garden waste and builders’ rubble, despite its generic introduction. Confirm acceptance; a drop-off label alone does not tell you what it takes.
Sea Point’s waste lists ↗03 / How many trips? Some loads have a daily limit
Induland specifies up to three daily loads of garage waste, clean rubble and garden waste. Recycling loads are not limited by that count. Capacity and resource conditions still apply.
Induland’s conditions ↗ Municipal pages checked 23 October 2026. Confirm current access and acceptance before travelling. These examples do not identify Orange’s disposal destinations.
Your booking checklist.
- Describe: what the load contains and anything needing special handling.
- Measure: estimate loose volume; confirm weight limits and actual dimensions separately.
- Locate: provide a precise street address, access details and intended skip position.
- Schedule: request delivery and collection dates; confirm the hire period.
- Agree: confirm accepted materials, loading rules, price and availability before treating an enquiry as a booking.
Use the volume estimator or send your enquiry.
